New The Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer Shows Off Rule 63 Silver Surfer

Marvel’s third attempt at a Fantastic Four movie is coming soon in the next few months, so Marvel and Disney just popped off a new trailer showing off the show’s premise and some interesting changes.

The most striking one is the Silver Surfer, who is now a woman instead of a male.

Otherwise, everything else seems on par with a Fantastic Four origin story: the Richards and Storm family, along with best uncle Ben Grimm, all gets zapped by cosmic rays which gives them powers. Since they’re the only superheroes in their universe, they’re the only ones who can deal with the impending cosmic danger that is Silver Surfer and Galactus.

So far, they’ve teased his foot in the latter, so odds are we’ll be seeing full-frontal non-smog Galactus in this hopefully accurate and faithful depiction of Marvel’s first family. Let’s hope they don’t do the thing where they kill off prominent villains too soon; remember Ultron and Killmonger?
