Formula Legends Wants To Be Your New Favourite Sunday Drive

If you’ve ever watched Formula 1 and thought, “What if this was less about spreadsheets and tyre data and more about pure, unfiltered fun?”—well, Italian developer 3DClouds has just flung open the pit garage for you.

Introducing Formula Legends, a new over-the-top arcade racing game that’s revving its engines for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PS4 and PS5 later this year. Yes, it’s aiming for all the platforms—because why should high-speed chaos be exclusive to one console?

But let’s get one thing straight: this isn’t your granddad’s sim racer where tyre pressure readings make or break a weekend. Formula Legends promises an easy-to-pick-up, devilishly hard-to-master experience. It’s got just enough realism to keep the purists on edge—tyre wear, fuel burn, evolving track conditions, and even the dreaded rain—but wrapped up in a package that lets you barrel down straights with a grin on your face, not a calculator in your hand.

The cars? Not licensed, but lovingly crafted throwbacks to the icons of open-wheel racing across the decades. Sixteen unique car models with seven liveries each (maths fans, that’s 112 total) let you channel your inner Senna, Schumacher or… that bloke who always crashes at Turn 1. No judgement.

Tracks? Fourteen of them. All inspired by the world’s most beloved circuits, but remixed with a bit of 3DClouds’ own flavour. So expect a bit more visual flair, a few more hair-raising corners, and maybe the occasional yacht you’ll swear came from Monaco’s backlot.

And the drivers? Over 200 fictional speedsters, clearly inspired by real-life legends, each with their own set of perks—from pit-lane prodigies to rain-dancing demons. Think of it like Mario Kart, if Mario had a data engineer and a strategic pit window.

Even the story mode gets a nod here. Rather than just tossing you into random races, it takes you on a motorsport history tour, letting you relive defining eras of racing—complete with drama, rivalries, and enough sweat-soaked nostalgia to fill a paddock.

You can also craft your own custom races, slap on your personalised livery, climb global leaderboards, and—if you fancy yourself the Enzo Ferrari of modding—tinker with everything from helmets to trackside banners. Yes, even the sponsors. Go nuts.

Francesco Bruschi, CEO of 3DClouds, summed it up best: “Race fast and have fun.” He’s not wrong. After making everything from Xenon Racer to Paw Patrol Karts (yes, really), the studio says this is their true passion project—fueled by a shared love for motorsports and, conveniently, a studio that’s a stone’s throw from Monza. Which, let’s be honest, is basically the Vatican for petrolheads.

Formula Legends is available to wishlist now on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Console pages are dropping soon, and more juicy reveals are expected in the coming months. Until then, strap in, hold tight, and maybe start practising your celebratory fist pump.
