Overwatch Ditches The Number 2 Next Week; Adds 5 New Heroes
It’s gonna be a new day for Blizzard’s PvP shooter.
Overwatch, the former 2016 darling of online competitive hero shooter took a PR beating when it adopted the number 2 back in 2022 due to many broken promises and leads leaving the project, with only the most diehard of fans going online and supporting it. Welp, Blizzard is trying something new with this upcoming “rebirth” of the existing game. This comes in the form of a new narrative arc with 10 new heroes.
Overwatch 2 will be dropping “2” and will be entering a new Season 1 beginning February 10. The game will have five of its ten new heroes playable at launch. In addition, a Nintendo Switch 2 version will be out for release in Spring. We don’t know if this will get older players back or even new ones given its not-so-sterling reputation online. Hell, some of these heroes look like they came from another F2P China-made mobile game rather than Overwatch. But at this point, Blizzard is willing to try anything at this point.
