REV Major 2019 Filled With LowHighs & Filipino Fighting Moments
Last weekend was indeed a treat for fighting game fans in Asia, particular in the Philippines. Gariath Concept, Playbook, Solaire, and Globe teamed up to bring streamers and fans a hell of a fighting game show with, offline and online, with a Tekken World Tour Master event, a Tenkaichi-level Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour, and a load of other top fighting games new and old.
Here are your REV Major 2019 highlights.
LowHigh, Rangchu, Chanel, and a few other Korean Tekken 7 luminaries made their mark on the Philippines. Among the top 8 players in this crazy Tekken showdown, Rangchu and Chanel had pocket Zafinas (the first of many Season 3 additions).
That super-poke of hers (b+1+2) and a slew of other counters/stance mixups must have been attractive for high-level players, as demonstrated by top tier female Tekken 7 player Yuyu below.
Filipino’s finest, Filipino Champ included, ended up placing pretty high in REV Major 2019’s Street Fighter V tournament. After Tachikawa (who won 1st place) are PBE’s Jamse, Don, and BuyLLy69.
Seeing as SFV’s brackets are full of new and old Japanese killers, it’s a testament to the power of the Philippines in terms of their SFV prowess. We hope to see the PBE guys fight more on an international scale, particularly in October’s SEA Major 2019.
Shoutouts to our neighbours down south for getting a win in a prominent anime fighting game. Resurgence’s Seo mained a pretty high-level character, Byakuya, in a game known for its unique cast.
The top 4 battle in REV Major’s Samurai Shodown tournament proved that old habits die hard, especially when it comes with Japanese players like Score and Eda. Even with the recent balance patch, the better players can still adjust to the meta.
