We’re Getting A Transformers Animated Movie From Toy Story 4 Director

There’s no word on whether we’re getting more live-action Transformers reboots and remakes. But at least there’s an animated one in the works.

According to Deadline, Paramount will be going ahead with their long-planned Transformers animated feature. They have hired Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley to helm the project.

The film revolves around the relationship between Autobot leader Optimus Prime and Decepticon megalomaniac Megatron, before the war for Cybertron happened and probably before even both factions were formed.

The animated feature will be separate from the main live-action film series. The script was written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari a number of years ago, so it’s good to know that both Paramount and Transformers IP owners Hasbro/eOne has begun production on the film.

This focus on an animated film instead of a live-action one is due to the current COVID-19 pandemic that’s going on, which will complicate live-action film productions, especially in Hollywood. In any case, we hope that they can get Stan Bush and Vince DiCola to do the film’s soundtrack. The Transformers 1986 movie OST is the stuff of 80s synth legends.
