Overwatch League: London Spitfire Part Ways with Bishop

The London Spitfire has parted ways with their coach,  Beom-joon “Bishop” Lee. Instrumental in forming the London Spitfire roster, the departure of Bishop is even more surprising considering it happened midway through Stage 2 of the season. Under his guidance, the Spitfire won the Stage 1 playoffs and are in a strong position to again qualify for the playoff stage of Stage 2.

While no official reason for the departure was discussed, the official statement from London Spitfire simply read:

London Spitfire has today parted ways with coach Beom-joon “Bishop” Lee. Bishop was instrumental in the formation of the Spitfire line-up, finding two of the world’s best Overwatch rosters, GC Busan and KongDoo Panthera, and fusing them into a single unit which was crowned Overwatch League Stage 1 champions.

We would like to thank Bishop for his contribution to London Spitfire and wish him all the best with his future endeavors. Our new coaching structure will be announced in due course.

Bishop’s official Twitter posted a tweet which may allude to an unplanned departure as he is already looking for job opportunities within the league. A former KongDoo Panthera player prior to his coaching role, his departure from the Spitfire follows the transfers of two former KongDoo Panthera players from Spitfire in recent weeks – Fissure to Los Angeles Gladiators and Rascal to Dallas Fuel – leaving only two remaining former KongDoo Panthera players in the Spitfire squad, Bdosin and Birdring.

By the way, Bishop – we heard Shanghai Dragons have a coaching vacancy following Chen Congshan ‘U4’s departure. Perhaps worth looking into it, eh?
