SDCC 2018: All The Movies & Series Announced So Far

This story is still in development.Â
It’s Saturday afternoon here, which means that a ton of San Diego Comicon 2018 news and trailers are out in the interweb wilds. Here’s our roundup of all of them:
To quote Charles Dance in the trailer: “Long live the king.”
It’s slated for 2019; there’s already a behind-the-scenes video and poster out. To recap, Neil Gaiman is behind all of it (he co-wrote the book with the late Terry Pratchett of course), while the film has stars such as David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Jon Hamm, and Frances McDormand as God.
I think this adaptation is going to be in really, REALLY good hands.
Psst. A little teaser poster. pic.twitter.com/aTDTM8Xo3r

The M.Night Shyamalan-verse is coming full circle with the film Glass, which is about the supervillain Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) from Unbreakable teaming up with Split’s The Beast (and the other personalities played by James McAvoy) to cause major havoc. The only person who can stop them is Bruce Willis’ David Dunn. The trailer also showcases a psychiatrist who ties it all together, played by Sarah Paulson. Looks good so far!
Remember that Tom Hanks classic? Well imagine a naive child-like Superman taking the adult’s place, and you have the basic premise of Shazam.
Well, there’s a lot of sharks and seahorses/seadragons in it. But this is the second colourful DC Comics show we’ve seen this week. Compared to the awful Teen Titans clip, this is a lovely revelation indeed.
The reboot of a schlock 80s film gets a reboot from its parent company 20th Century Fox (via Hollywood Reporter). And creator Joss Whedon is attached to the project to executive produce it. There’s no casting happening for this film yet, but there is an official plan to cast Buffy as a black woman and a conscious effort to have a diverse cast in general. We’re not really sure if this is needed.
We wrote about it here. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
Here’s a first look at the long-anticipated third season of the underrated Young Justice animated series, from writer/director Greg Weissman. You may remember that name if you’re familiar with the Disney show Gargoyles and the also-underrated Spectacular Spider-Man animated series.
Walt Disney announced during the SDCC week that it has severed ties with James Gunn from the third Guardians of the Galaxy film due to his past tweets concerning rape and pedophilia jokes (via Hollywood Reporter).
