Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Receives A Manga Spin-off
By Syazwan Bahri|April 30, 2019|0 Comment
If you’ve played the unforgiving game of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, you must have met Hanbei the Undying. He’s the NPC hanging just out of the Dilapidated Temple and serves as your training partner for you to ‘git gud’, or you can check out our guide here to ‘git better’.
If you haven’t played the game, he’s an immortal warrior destined to help you become the shinobi you’re meant to be.
Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei (Sekiro Side-Story: Hanbei the Undying) is a gory manga focused on telling the tale of Hanbei’s backstory. Have a look at the sample below;
FromSoftware’s games are known to be deep in lore, but the lore is always delivered in such an obscure way that it has a satisfying feel to have discovered a whole lore piece in the game. This manga serves as an extension to Sekiro’s amazing world-building.
Shin Yamamoto is the artist for this project, and the manga is supervised by FromSoftware themselves.
The manga will be released the Comic Walker website on 27 May, and it’s also been licensed by US-based graphic novel publisher Yen Press. They have included a short teaser below;
“The Sengoku Era…A time when losing a battle meant losing it all. The Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina, aims for world domination…That is, until he encounters a certain Samurai…”
Sounds interesting, worth checking out if you’re a From Software and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice fan.
