The Top 20 2D Fighting Game Characters Of All Time (Part 1)

14. Oro (Street Fighter Series)

oro_sf3.png

Oro is far from being the most iconic character in the Street Fighter series, but he’s definitely one of the most underrated out of the dozens of unique characters that have been introduced over the decades that the series has been running.

Besides Street Fighter 3 being one of the less popular iterations of the series, perhaps part of the reason why Oro is rarely considered a favourite among Street Fighter fans is because of his relatively plain and unimpressive appearance. In a series that features deadly demonic martial artists and scantily clad pro-wrestlers, it’s understandable that players would overlook a character that basically looks like a raggedy old man.

But dig a little deeper into the lore and you’ll see why Oro is one of the coolest characters in the series – this guy is so strong that he fights one-handed just to give his opponents a chance.

According to the Street Fighter canon – Oro has mastered the secrets of immortality, defeated Ryu fair and square, and even fought Akuma – the most powerful character in all of Street Fighter up to that point in the story, to a draw, while he was still fighting with only one arm. That’s about as badass as a martial artist can get.
