31. Buster (Toy Story)

Watching Buster grow older as more Toy Story films were released felt like I was watching my own pet grow old. When we say an old and tired Buster in Toy Story 3, I was happy to see him but undoubtedly heartbroken as well.

32. Rush (Mega Man series)

I’ll never forget how useful Rush’s spring-powered launcher that’s built into his back. Called the Rush Coil, you’d use it to jump up to higher levels. Thank you, Rush.

33. Shadow (Dead to Rights)

Shadow is possibly one of the most dangerous dogs in video game history. There’s an attack that he does where bites an enemy’s testicles to bring them down then tears out their throats to kill them. Wild stuff.

34. The Pomeranian (Tokyo Jungle)

Don’t be fooled by their cuteness. The pomeranians of Tokyo Jungle are class-A predators ready to kill anything that threatens their survival. Of course, still no match for a lion or tiger.

35. Scooby-Doo (Scooby-Doo)

Homer Simpson’s “D’oh” is surely iconic but I’m one of those people who believes that Scooby’s “ruh-roh” is way more memorable. It’s been years since I’ve watched anything Scooby-Doo related but I still wonder what Scooby Snacks taste like.

36. Ein (Cowboy Bebop)

Do you like Corgis? Do you like space cowboys? If you answered yes to both, then you will love Ein, a corgi who goes on adventures with space cowboys. He’s also a “data dog” which means he’s really smart and can do stuff like answering a telephone, talking to other animals, and hacking a computer database with his mind.

37. Brandy (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood)

The true start of Quentin Tarantino’s 9th film isn’t Leonard DiCaprio or Brad Pitt but it was Brandy, the pet dog of Pitt’s character Cliff Booth. Brandy is almost always hungry and almost always ready to pounce on anyone dumb enough to point a gun at Cliff Booth.

38. Poppy (Samurai Shodown series)

Being Galford’s pet dog means you’ve gotta have some serious skills of your own too and Poppy doesn’t disappoint. He can launch himself like a pinball and even take enemies down to prone for you to do a follow-up attack. Thanks to this killer canine, Galford is usually a mid to top tier character in the Samurai Shodown games thanks to the mongrel’s mixups.

39. Samantha (I Am Legend)

Who could ever forget Samantha? Her role in I Am Legend portrayed one of the most endearing and honest interpretations of the well-known saying that dogs are “man’s best friend”.

40. Slinky (Toy Story)

Admit it. The moment you saw Slinky in Toy Story, you wanted this toy. Poor Slinky, always getting stuck in places and propelled backwards thanks to his springy anatomy.

Phew, that was one hell of a list of good boys and good girls. Dogs are wonderful creatures and I hope we never get more of them both in real life and in fictional works. Happy International Dog Day!
