BBC’s The War Of The Worlds Trailer Looks Pretty Good
By Alleef Ashaari|September 30, 2019|0 Comment
H.G. Well’s classic novel The War Of The Worlds remains one of the most influential science fiction stories in history, which is why it’s no wonder that it keeps getting adaptations from time to time. The latest is a three-part BBC miniseries set in Edwardian England in the early 1900s (just before World War 1).
It follows George (Rafe Spall) and his partner Amy (Eleanor Tomlinson) as they attempt to defy society and start a life together, facing the escalating terror of an alien invasion, while fighting for their lives against an enemy beyond their comprehension.
Sci-fi period pieces are often fascinating due to the clash of technological capabilities and way of thinking. It will be interesting to see how this more faithful adaptation will differ from Steven Spielberg’s 2005 movie adaptation, which went for a modern contemporary setting instead.
The production values look uncharacteristically high and lavish for something produced by BBC, so we’ll have to wait until The War Of The Worlds releases sometime in fall 2019. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
