The Uncharted Movie Just Lost Another Director
That Uncharted movie we keep hearing about has been in development hell for at least a decade. It was first talked about back in 2008 and has since swapped directors four times. The movie’s latest director now joins that list.
Deadline has reported that director Travis Knight will no longer direct Sony’s Uncharted movie. The filming of the third Spider-Man movie has caused scheduling conflicts between Tom Holland and Knight. Apparently, Sony is still moving forward with the movie.
Holland is set to play a younger version of Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg will be filling the role of Victor “Sully” Sullivan. According to Deadline’s sources, both actors will remain on the project.
Curious about the other directors who have left the project? Here’s a list of them, starting from the first to the last:
Earlier this year, it was reported that the movie was set to release in December 2020. This new development suggests that the movie won’t be arriving on time which begs the question of whether people will even care anymore by then.
The last major Uncharted game was The Lost Legacy and that was released in 2017. If the movie comes out sometime in 2021, that makes it four years too late to capitalise on anything. By then, Naughty Dog will be focused on making non-Uncharted PS5 games anyway.
