Marvel’s First Ultraman Comic To Revisit The Original Ultra
Marvel Entertainment originally announced that they were going to publish new Ultraman comics and graphic novels starting in 2020. The publisher recently revealed the story details and cover art of their very first Ultraman comic book at C2E2 2020.
The Rise Of Ultraman #1 will revisit the original Ultra Warrior or Ultraman from the 1966 Tokusatsu series. The creative team will be co-writers Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom, with art by Francesco Manna.

Higgins is best known for having written Boom Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics while Manna has previously drawn for Jason Aaron’s Avengers and Dan Slott’s Fantastic Four runs.
In a press release, Higgins said:
“A few years ago, thanks to my time on Power Rangers, I was able to discover and learn more about Tokusatsu.
With its wildly different conventions and inspirations, Tokusatsu — and Ultraman in particular — has been a huge source of joy for me.
It’s a genre so ripe with possibilities, even down to what we conceive of in the structure of Super Hero storytelling.
It’s both an honour and a privilege to bring Ultraman to Marvel.â€
Ultraman #1 will launch sometime later this year. Fingers crossed for Malaysia’s Ultraman Ribut and other iconic Ultraman heroes to make their debuts, such as Ultraman Taro, Tiga and others.
