This Valkyrie Profile Tribute Album Is Epic On All Counts
By Jonathan Toyad|March 4, 2020|0 Comment
The RPG Valkyrie Profile signalled a time in late 90s JRPGing where companies like Enix showcased their innovation to the fullest while delivering stellar production value. This is especially telling given the bombastic soundtrack from composer Motoi Sakuraba who is just going through the motions with the Dark Souls and Tales Of series.
Which is why I’m glad to have stumbled across this Valkyrie Profile tribute album from a band of intrepid music composers & arrangers under the Pixel Mixers production banner. Called Nibelung Valesti -which is the name of the finishing strike Lenneth uses in the game- the album features a slew of well-produced arrangements. The Norse chants & monologue added in this mix of “Epic Poem to a Sacred Death” is chilling yet harmonious.
This upbeat take on “Turn Over A New Leaf” prove that the album is also taking chances with other genres of music.
If you fancy rock music, this arrangement of “Illuminating Magic Links” should cure what ails your ears.
The best part? The entire album is free; it comes in two parts and 51 tracks.
