Guilty Gear Strive Closed Beta Starter Guide

Arc System Works’ next entry in the Guilty Gear franchise is in closed beta and available to download for select folks on PS4. Fans can now see what the fuss is about, given the recent news about the game being less “combo-savvy” than usual.

The developers released a few videos on how to play the available characters in the game. These include Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, May, Axl Low, Chipp Zanuff, and Potemkin. We’ll break it down for you.

Sol Badguy

If you want an aggressive shoto-like character to use, Sol is your top choice.

Ky Kiske

Ky Kiske’s moveset makes him the ideal beginner character for first-time Guilty Gear players.

May

This charge character has the best moves to get in close and pressure foes. She is offense-driven to the core.

Axl Low

Axl is a great fighter at long range. Use his Sickle Flash and his many, many follow ups to keep opponents guessing from a distance.

Chipp Zanuff

With so many options for combos and hit-and-run tactics, Chipp Zanuff is offense-driven to the core. If you so much as play defensively with him, you’re playing him wrong.

Potemkin

Prefer damage over fancy combos? Potemkin’s the best in dealing big damage up-close and also in mid-ranged footsies.
