Hardspace: Shipbreaker Lets You Be A Blue-Collar Worker, In Space

An upcoming Early Access game will let you play as a ship-salvaging blue-collar worker, whose work happens to take place in the zero-gravity environment of space.

A new behind-the-scenes video for Hardspace: Shipbreaker highlights some of the game’s elements, like the laser tool that lets you slice “any object in the game” in “any way” that you want. You’ll also stumble upon story details as you break ships apart.

My favourite bit in the video was hearing that the corporation you work for and are indebted to in the game has your DNA. When you die, they’ll just “reassemble you”. Dark stuff.

The game will be out on Steam on 17 June 2020. If you like the idea of laser-cutting stuff, having “next-generation physics simulation”, or just want to pay off an in-game debt of 999,999,999 credits, you can check out the Store page here.
