Overwatch Pros Fined US$1,000 For “Big Dick” Chat In Public
While the world is waiting for Overwatch 2, we’ll have to settle for esports misdemeanour instead. Blizzard has fined Los Angeles Valiant’s Jung-won “Lastro” Mun and San Francisco Shock’s Dong-jun “Rascal” Kim US$1,000 for some colourful banter. Said chat was unintentionally broadcasted on Twitch for the whole world to see during an Overwatch League match.
What was wrong in the chat? Well, Lastro wrote “sex”, followed by “big dick”. Rascal followed suit and responded with “big dick” and creatively arranged punctuation marks & symbols to form a penis.
Their respective teammates Super and McGravy urged them to stop and warned them that the chat was public, but it was too late.

Lastro issued a public apology following this incident.
I thought the viewers could not see the match chat because everyone was typing in it. I wrote it as a joke, although I should not have done it regardless of whether the viewers could see the match chat or not. I will make sure something like this never happens again.

At the very least, these players weren’t banned from playing the game. This is pretty funny stuff, especially when you remember that tournament players in major competitions usually keep on the straight and narrow regarding this sort of behaviour.
