Apex Legends will officially kick off Season 5: Fortune’s Favor on 12 May 2020, and a new gameplay trailer has revealed more about what to expect from the upcoming season in terms of content.

According to the official website, the arrival of latest legend Loba Andrade has caused the destruction of Skull Town in an entire section of the King’s Canyon map, leading to the introduction of the battle royale game’s first-ever Season Quest, The Broken Ghost.

In The Broken Ghost, players will take part in a season-long search to find nine pieces of a mysterious artifact, collecting daily Treasure Packs in competitive matches (including Duos, Trios, Limited-Time Modes and Ranked) to unlock Rewards and new Hunts for the missing pieces.

Treasure Packs are a new lootable item but unlike other loot, these don’t go into the player’s backpack. Instead, they’re collected immediately on pickup and players will get their contents when they return to the Lobby after their match.

The catch is that players can only collect one Treasure Pack per day. In total, there are 45 packs to collect this season, and each one can contain Crafting Metals, BattlePass XP, Apex Packs, or the ability to play a new weekly Hunt for the next piece of the artifact.

Each of these weekly Hunts into Kings Canyon at Night will unlock exclusive Weapon Charms and serial chapters that tell the Story of The Broken Ghost. The biggest question in Season 5 is: What is this mysterious artifact, and why does everybody from the Apex Legends to Hammond Robotics want to get their hands on it?

The first Hunt will be available on 19 May 2020, and can be played as soon as players have collected their fifth Treasure Pack. Subsequent Hunts will be released one week at a time after that, until all nine are finally available to play.
