A Fallout TV Series Is Coming From Westworld Creators & Amazon

Just as gamers are getting sick of the Bethesda’s treatment of the Fallout franchise (with the atrocious Fallout 76 in 2018), we’re suddenly getting a Fallout TV series from parties who might actually care about the iconic post-apocalyptic game franchise.
According to Variety, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (best known for being the showrunners of HBO’s Westworld) are working together with Amazon Studios to develop a Fallout TV series.

In a joint statement, the creative duo said:
“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time.
Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends.
So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
Bethesda Game Studios will be involved with the development of the show and series director Todd Howard will serve as executive producer on the show. As of now, none of the plot details or casting has been revealed, so it remains unclear if the Fallout TV series will be an adaptation of existing games, or a brand new original story.
More and more games are getting TV series adaptations, including the hallowed Halo franchise and even recent award-winning games like Disco Elysium. Perhaps we’re looking at a comic book-like adaptation boom for video games? Only time will tell.
