Activision Breaks Away From Tencent, This Is Why

Call Of Duty Mobile Season 9 arrived only earlier this week, and eagle-eyed gamers have since noticed that the loading screen mentioning credits for Tencent and TiMi Studios for their contribution in development efforts have suddenly disappeared.

It turns out that publisher Activision has officially parted ways with Tencent for several reasons. Speaking with GamingOnPhone, TiMi Studios representatives have revealed the reasons for Activision breaking off from both Tencent and TiMi Studios.

The first reason is that US President Donald Trump recently signed an order that complicated and restricted US companies from conducting transactions and working with Tencent and its many subsidiaries, including TiMi Studios. To avoid Trump’s ban from affecting the global version of Call Of Duty Mobile, Activision had decided to part ways with Tencent.

The second reason is that there have been multiple reports claiming that Tencent’s PUBG Mobile has apparently been copying various features from the Call Of Duty Mobile. These include unique Call Of Duty Mobile mechanics such as Gunsmith game mode, aerial platform, locations, and more.

It remains to be seen how all of this will affect Call Of Duty Mobile moving forward, and the question of who will be taking over the continued development of the mobile game remains unanswered for now.
