After Much Backlash, Rockstar Is Bringing Back The Original PC Versions Of The GTA Trilogy To Its Store

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition came out and pissed off a lot of people because of how buggy and broken it was. Not to mention the fact that it was a port of the mobile version of the game, which is why it looks pretty bad. And with Rockstar removing the original games from digital stores and developers Grove Street Games having its CEO be oblivious about the situation on Twitter, you can see why the GTA community is in an uproar.
So I guess it’s a good thing Rockstar announced that it will be bringing back the original PC versions of the games – GTA 3, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas- to the Rockstar Store as a bundle. As a bonus, everyone who bought the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition for PC will receive the classic versions in their Rockstar Games Launcher library at no additional cost (until 30th June 2022 hits). The team will fix the Definitive Edition with a Title Update in the near future.
“We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward. With each planned update, the games will reach the level of quality that they deserve to be.
In the meantime, it pains us to mention that we are hearing reports of members of the development teams being harassed on social media. We would kindly ask our community to please maintain a respectful and civil discourse around this release as we work through these issues.”
This mess could have been avoided had the port been based on the original PC version, and if Rockstar did not go out of their way to stop modders with legal action with anything involving the old GTA games. Better now than never.
