CD Projekt Red Announces New The Witcher Saga
By Alleef Ashaari|March 22, 2022|0 Comment
In a surprising reveal, CD Projekt Red has announced that a new The Witcher game is in development, which will kick off a new saga for the franchise. This will be the first new major instalment in the franchise since 2015’s The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.
The Polish developer also announced that they’re replacing their REDengine with Unreal Engine 5 for future games, which will begin a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. This covers not only licensing, but also technical development of Unreal Engine 5, including closely collaborating with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal of tailoring the engine for open-world experiences.
However, there is no release window or release date yet for the game. Meanwhile, DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 will still be powered by REDengine. A next-gen version of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is slated to release sometime in 2022.
