Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary News Recap

Square Enix is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its hit JRPG franchise Kingdom Hearts, which combines Square Enix FF characters & Disney icons together for a magical kingdom anime experience. Convoluted plot included.

The event, held at Tokyo, Japan, will be announcing some updates, so this news piece will be recapping what’s transpired. So far, the 20th anniversary’s official artwork has been revealed, with a panel that may be revealing the next Kingdom Hearts saga.

Also, some KH displays are out there at the event hall in Tokyo like a Roxas and Sora life-sized statue.

Update (10/4/22, 4:45pm): We heard that Square Enix is using cell service blockers during the event to prevent leaks. Perhaps the company plans on revealing a sequel to Kingdom Hearts or a spin-off game at the very least?

Update (10/4/22, 6:56pm): Kingdom Hearts 4 is confirmed, according to the trailer below. The game trailer features Sora fighting a giant Heartless in what seems to be a Tokyo metropolis, with the end showcasing Goofy and Donald walking together in the dark.

There’s also an announcement for Kingdom Hearts Union X: Dark Road for mobile phones and Kingdom Hearts Missing Link for, surprise, mobile phones. The latter is an upcoming action RPG with a closed beta test coming in 2022.
