Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Will Be Out In July Instead Of September

Nintendo’s big JRPG sequel Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be pushed forward from its September release date.

The Monolithsoft game will be out on 29th July instead. In addition, there’s a ton more being shown off here. Let’s break it down.

  • Pairs of characters can now fuse together into one badass form via the Interlink system. Noah and Mio can fuse together to become one powerful demon Ultraman mecha-like thing called the Ouroboros that possibly deals tons of damage in combat. Sena and Lanz can do the same (giant mecha with two giant gauntlets), along with Eunie and Taion (female form with two giant revolving shields/wings).
  • Noah can use other skills from other party members via Chain Attacks.
  • Yes, the Nopons from the earlier trailer are your party members, or at least support attacks and hang with your team. And they’re called Riku and Manana.
  • You have two extra party members joining you: Valdi and Zeon. They may be temporary ones though.
  • Other new characters introduced in this trailer include Ethel the commander of Keves’ army (lady with white hair), Isurd the army leader of Agnus’ Lambda Colony, and Cammuravi the army chief of Agnus’ Delta Colony.

Here’s the official Nintendo-written features about the new systems and combat bits:

  • Battle with up to seven characters: Like in previous Xenoblade Chronicles games, battles start by facing enemies directly in the overworld. Players can control Noah’s party of six, as well as additional characters they’ll meet during the adventure. Each character has their own role in battle, which allows for diverse strategies.
  • Class change: Noah is a Swordfighter, specializing in close-range attacks, while Mio is a Zephyr, drawing enemy attention while evading their strikes. Thus, each character has their own class with their own strengths. Progressing in the adventure, players can change characters’ classes, creating a customized party.
  • New Interlink system: Each of the tag-team pairs – Noah and Mio, Lanz and Sena, Eunie and Taion – can make use of the Interlink system if certain conditions are met. They will then combine into a giant form called Ouroboros. Each Ouroboros has its own powerful move set, and deciding when to transform can be the key to winning a battle.

There’s even a Special Edition for the game for pre-order on the My Nintendo Store. This version features a special box, steelbook the game, and an art book.
