Players Is An Esports Mockumentary With The Appropriate Amount Of Cringe

If you’re sick of seeing esports take itself seriously and rather watch a fictional team go through what actually happens behind the scenes while having a laugh, look no further than the upcoming mockumentary series called Players.

The mockumentary is about a fictional League of Legends team called Fugitive led by a player named Cream Cheese and their journey of winning the LoL championship (LCS), while also dealing with new teammate Organizm who is a 17-year old prodigy in the game. It’s directed and produced by the team behind the American Vandal series (Tony Yacenda, Dan Perrault), so you know there’s going to be potty humour, a huge level of purposefully-tailored cringe, and some commentary about the esports scene as a whole. Kind of like what Mythic Quest is doing with video game development and how painful it can be.

To add to the authenticity of the show, Riot Games will be involved, and even some real-life pro teams like Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses will be popping up to give Team Fugitive a run for their money in the show. Players will start streaming on Paramount+ on 16 July.
