QA Company Reportedly Lied To CD Projekt Red About Cyberpunk 2077 Bugs

Every knows by now how disastrous the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was back in 2020. CD Projekt Red has apologized for the blunder but the reason for why that came to be has yet to be revealed. Perhaps, until now. According to a report by Forbes, a 72-page document was sent by a whistleblower to YouTuber Upper Echelon Gamers.

It revealed that Quantic Labs was one of the QA companies who testing work on Cyberpunk 2077. However, the report claims that Quantic Lab overexaggerated the size of their team that was working on Cyberpunk 2077 in order to keep the contract. They also lied about their team consisting of senior staff, when it was actually just juniors with under six months experience in QA.

As a result, Quantic Lab apparently had a daily quota of reported bugs, leading to thousands of pointless bug reports from the testers which wasted precious time and caused gamebreaking issues to not be found or prioritized. You can watch the full video here for more details.

Recently, CD Projekt Red announced that the first Cyberpunk 2077 expansion will be released sometime in 2023. Cyberpunk 2077 originally launched in December 2020, so it will be at least a whopping three years before the game even gets its first expansion.

That doesn’t sound good. To be fair, the developer had to spend most of its time since launch fixing the broken game to even make it playable, so there’s that. CD Projekt Red also announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 18 million copies, while The Witcher 3 just crossed 40 million units sold.

You can check out a handy recap of all the problems plaguing Cyberpunk 2077 since launch by heading over here or check out our review of the game here.
