Nintendo Buys Visual Content Company To Turn Into Nintendo Pictures
By Alleef Ashaari|July 14, 2022|0 Comment
Nintendo has announced that they are acquiring Dynamo Pictures, which is a Tokyo-based company that plans and produces visual content. The acquisition is expected to close by 3 October 2022.
According to the press release, the acquisition of Dynamo Pictures will allow it to strengthen the planning and production structure of visual content in the Nintendo group. When the acquisition is complete, Nintendo will change the company’s name from Dynamo Pictures to Nintendo Pictures, indicating its shift on focus to develop visual content based on Nintendo IP.
Dynamo Pictures is best known for working on Studio Ghibli’s Earwig And The Witch (check out my review of the animated movie here), NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 Season 2 and more.
Nintendo’s acquisition of Dynamo Pictures might mean that they are planning to push and develop more animated movies and series, including anime, for Nintendo IP like Super Mario and others. Meanwhile, the Super Mario Bros. movie by Minions studio Illumination is coming in spring 2023.
