Disco Elysium Devs Might Be Making A New Sci-Fi Title

Disco Elysium developer ZA/UM has a bunch of new job listings that may indicate a new game is in the works. These include an open position for an Environment Concept Artist posted on 26 July 2022 which requires strong painting skills, and the “creation of non-earth environments”, with bonuses being “an understanding of architecture or city planning and a “love of sci-fi and video games”.

In addition, a Lead Environment Artist role states that experience with Unreal Engine 4 and 5 is a requirement, with a bonus for the role if the candidate understands “parametric and procedural content”. What that means is to automate the creation of certain data according to guidelines set by the programmer, which means that the game can feature a seemingly limitless design potential. This is often seen in rogue-lite and roguelike games like Hades.

Another interesting job position is the Sales and Monetisation Specialist, as the developer is looking for someone to “maximise and diversify revenue streams for full game, add-on and live services content”. Are they making a live-service game?

This new game might be a brand new title, or it could be a sequel to Disco Elysium. It’s probably too early to tell and we’ll have to wait for ZA/UM to be ready to announce the project.

In 2020, it was revealed that a Disco Elysium TV series is in the works. The game also won multiple awards at The Game Awards 2019, and we even named it one of our best games of 2019.
