Rurouni Kenshin Anime Reboot To Premiere In 2023

During the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event on Saturday, the Rurouni Kenshin anime reboot revealed a new trailer, the main staff, and the main cast. T

he anime will premiere in 2023 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block. This is a reboot similar to Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and 2011’s Hunter X Hunter, so it will re-adapt the main manga series.

This also means that this 2023 series will eventually animate the final arc of the manga, the Jinchu arc, for the first time ever. The original 1996 anime did not cover the final arc.

Aniplex also revealed character visuals for Kenshin and Kaoru, check them out below:

According to Anime News Network, Hideyo Yamamoto (Strike the Blood, Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka, Cells at Work! Code Black) is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS. Terumi Nishii is designing the characters, and Y? Takami composes the music. S?ma Sait? stars as Kenshin Himura, and Rie Takahashi costars as Kaoru Kamiya.

Watsuki originally launched his Rurouni Kenshin manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1994. The manga has more than 72 million copies in circulation worldwide. The manga follows Kenshin Himura, who was once a deadly assassin during the Meiji Restoration and is trying to find a new life beyond violence.

Back in November 2017, police discovered DVDs with footage of naked girls in their early teens in Watsuki’s Tokyo office. He was later charged with child pornography and fined ¥200,000.

The manga was previously adapted into a 95-episode TV anime series, an anime film, three original video anime projects, five live-action films, and a stage musical by the all-female musical theatre troupe Takarazuka Revue.
