[Report] Federal Trade Commission To Cockblock Microsoft & Activision Blizzard Deal
A possible plot twist to the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard deal could be happening.
According to sources from Politico, the Federal Trade Commission is likely to file an antitrust lawsuit to block Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard. The FTC Chair Lina Khan plans to “reign in the power of the world’s largest technology companies”. Several of the FTC members and chairpersons are skeptical of the companies’ intentions, though the lawsuit isn’t certain at this point.
What does this mean? Well, an antitrust lawsuit would mean Microsoft would have to fight to push forward its acquisition of the Call of Duty creators in US courts. Investigations are currently being carried out by the European Commission due to competition concerns, with recent new arguments brought up by Sony.
