Diablo 4 Players Who Hit Level 100 In Hardcore Permadeath Mode Will Get A Prize

After so many years, Diablo is getting a new sequel. Diablo 4 will be out this 6th June (or 2nd June if you bought the special edition for that early access flavour), and to celebrate this occasion, Blizzard has arranged for something special.

The first 1,000 players who reach Level 100 in Hardcore Mode will have their names immortalized (read: carved) onto a special Diablo 4 Lilith statue. Hardcore Mode is the game’s permadeath mode: if your character dies at any time while in Hardcore Mode, they’re wiped out from the game forever. So you can imagine the stress you’ll feel as you play this mode.

Of course, a good number of people are bickering about the fact that people who got early access to the game for review (like us) may pose an unfair advantage due to their having knowledge of the game before everyone else. Well, that problem’s been circumvented because (a) those review accounts and progress are wiped out already and (b) the fine print in the contest states that those who participated in the pre-release review version of the game during May 2023 are not eligible for entry. So yeah, I’m definitely ineligible for this even if I’m remotely interested.  Still, having your name immortalized as a top-tier player on a haunting statue is a helluva prize.

Diablo 4’s early access will start on 2nd June at 7am. If you bought the standard version, the game will only be available on 6th June. In the meantime, here’s our glowing review of the new action RPG.
