Destiny 2’s Commander Zavala Will Be Voiced By Keith David

Following the sad passing of actor Lance Reddick (of The Wire and Eric Andre Show fame), Destiny 2 players wonder if Commander Zavala’s role will continue. He is one of the game’s more central figureheads, and it would be a shame if he’s shafted for future stories and missions for the game.

A solution has been found, it seems. Bungie has announced that Commander Zavala will still be in the game’s story as he is central to the story, and will be voiced in future Destiny expansions and DLC by prolific actor Keith David. He’s known for voicing iconic roles as Captain Anderson in the Mass Effect trilogy, Goliath in Disney’s Gargoyles, and himself in Saints Row 4.

“I am honoured to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala. Lance captured the character’s sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work.”

Meanwhile, Lance Reddick’s existing lines in-game will remain untouched for the upcoming release The Final Shape. Keith David will be voicing additional lines for the expansion. For more on Destiny 2, check out our coverage.
