Saints Row Reboot Hitting Steam Later This Month

The much-anticipated Saints Row reboot is about to hit Steam in just a few weeks! You might remember that this revamped version of the popular Volition action series had already made its way to consoles and the Epic Games Store last year. But the exciting news is that it’s finally making its debut on Steam come 24 August.

And that’s not all the juicy info we’ve got for you. Right alongside the Steam release announcement, they’ve also dropped the release date for the game’s third additional content piece called “A Song of Ice and Dust.”

Hold on, there’s a bit of a backstory here. Lars Wingefors, the big cheese at Embracer (the company behind the game), shared his personal feelings about the reception to Saints Row during Embracer’s AGM back in September. He said, and I quote, “Personally, I had hoped for a greater reception to the game.” Apparently, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag, with some folks loving it and others, not so much. It’s like having your cake and not being able to eat it too.

Lars seemed to be walking on a tightrope, expressing a mix of happiness for the delighted gamers and fans, while also feeling a twinge of sadness for those who weren’t thrilled. He acknowledged that there’s a lot to delve into about the game, but he was quick to point out that we’ll probably have to wait until the November quarterly report for more deets. The game is still fresh out of the oven, and the team is gathering all sorts of data, fixing bugs, and even cooking up more content for us to sink our teeth into. So, let’s hang tight and see where this wild ride takes us!
