Warframe 1999 Song Reveal Gameplay Featured at Tennocon 2023

Digital Extremes’ journey started with Dark Sector, and the upcoming Warframe 1999 update aims to honor the brutally intense cult classic. At Tennocon 2023, Warframe celebrated its 10 years and fans were surprised with the reveal of a very packed future for the game.

Creative Director Rebecca Ford says the team went on the ’90s aesthetic, because it comes from rosy childhood memories for her.

“I was a wee lass then. I was nine years old in 1999. It’s my favorite era of my life because I had no responsibilities! But, inspiration-wise, I really wanted to re-re-do the Dark Sector that was made – or not made!” – Rebecca Ford, Creative Director.

She also mentions that Warframe 1999 “is Warframe,” however.

“The only thing that is not Warframe is that’s it’s 1999 – but you’ll have to wait and see how it is Warframe. It’s certainly an exciting new look for the game, though, and it feeds into the different experiences that the team wants to provide us with.

The Warframe 1999 release date is set for 2024, and it will be an update to the base game.

Here’s a look at a 27-Minute Gameplay Demo of Whispers in the Walls and Warframe: 1999.

The Whispers in the Dark update will come before that this October and is set to bring fans into the darker side of the Warframe story.
