Warner Bros. Delays Dune Part Two To 2024

Bad news, folks. One of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year, Dune Part Two, has been officially delayed by Warner Bros. Discovery to 15 March 2023 (via Variety). It was originally slated to premiere on 3 November 2023.

Other movie release dates have also been shifted, including Godzilla X Kong The New Empire, which will now premiere on 12 April 2024 (delayed one month later from its original 15 March 2023 release date). In addition, the animated movie The Lord Of The Rings The War Of The Rohirrim has also been delayed from 12 April 2024 to 13 December 2024.

Warner Bros. Discovery is the second major studio after Sony Pictures to officially announce delays for their movies amidst the ongoing WGA SAG-AFTRA strikes. During the strike, actors (who are part of the union) are not allowed to do press for any movie or TV series they are a part of.

Dune Part Two stars Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson joined by fellow returning Dune Part One cast members Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Stephen McKinley Henderson, as well as new additions Austin Butler, Tim Blake Nelson, Florence Pugh, Souheila Yacoub, and Léa Seydoux.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Dune Part Two will explore “the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavours to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”

In the meantime, check out my review of Dune Part One by heading over here. Dune is currently available to watch on the streaming platform HBO GO. Last year, there was also an early access launch of a pretty fun Dune game.
