Here’s Your First Look At Grand Theft Auto 6, Set In Modern Day Vice City
Ahead of its 10pm GMT+8 scheduled post today, Rockstar Games has released the first official trailer of its upcoming action-adventure open-world crime simulator Grand Theft Auto 6.
The reason for this premature release? Well, someone has allegedly leaked the official trailer online, so Rockstar took it upon themselves to publish it early (via their Twitter account). The trailer depicts what we’ve predicted via a previous leak of the game in a very early state:
- One of GTA 6’s protagonists is a woman named Lucia, freshly out of prison. The male protagonist on the game’s cover is officially unnamed (leaks seem to state he’s called Jason), and a Bonnie & Clyde dynamic is established here. And will most likely implement the partner/perspective system in GTA 5 back then (but with two characters instead of three). Heck, this might be Rockstar’s version of the 1993 Christian Slater/Patricia Arquette movie True Romance.
- The new location is Leonida, Vice City (the game’s version of Miami) and it’s set in present time.
- The trailer’s music is “Love is a Long Road” by Tom Petty.
- Here’s the official press release quote from Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser: “Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences. [It’s] the biggest, most immersive evolution of the GTA series yet.”
Update: After 15 hours, the GTA 6 trailer has accumulated 66 million views on YouTube. Guess time can wait until the next Grand Theft Auto game comes out, eh?
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be out in 2025. While there’s no console or platform set, the game will most likely be out forPS5 and Xbox Series. As for PC? Probably later after its initial console release.
