By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|December 6, 2023|0 Comment
Day 4 of the M5 World Championship witnessed significant developments, with three teams successfully advancing to the Knockout Stages and four others being eliminated from the competition. Blacklist International, ONIC Esports, and See You Soon secured Top-2 positions in their respective groups, ensuring their progression. On the flip side, Bigetron Sons, Team SMG, TheOhioBrothers, and Triple Esports bid farewell to their M5 journey.
In the initial match, urmese Ghouls convincingly defeated Team Lilgun, jeopardizing the latter’s qualification chances. Although Burmese Ghouls kept their slim hopes alive, they now depend on AP.Bren sweeping both Team Flash and Team Lilgun in their upcoming clashes.
Fire Flux Esports faced a setback against RRQ Akira as an earthquake disrupted their momentum. Despite initially taking a 1-0 lead, the Turkish champions lost the next two games due to a magnitude 5.9 earthquake in Occidental Mindoro. The quake forced evacuations, impacting the focus of Fire Flux Esports, according to coach Sacit “Badgalseph” Arslan.
Geek Fam staged a comeback to defeat Russia’s Deus Vult in a highly intense match, securing a victory in the group stages. However, their satisfaction is tempered by Manuel “Nnael” Simbolon’s inappropriate behaviour, resulting in a two-match suspension for the jungler.
The day concluded with ONIC Esports sweeping Triple Esports in the final match. Although the MPL MENA champions displayed strength in the opening game, they couldn’t seal the deal, allowing ONIC Esports to assert dominance and emerge victorious in the Land of Dawn.
