Obscure 1999 Third-Person Shooter Outcast Gets A Reboot; Out Next March

If you miss the Aughts period of shooters and 2010s HD era of dudebro shooter gaming, THQ Nordic will be attempting to bring that back with its new IP.

Outcast: A New Beginning is a new third-person shooter from developer Appeal Studios that’s shaping up to be a throwback shooter, but made for 2024. In fact, it’s a reboot of the old Outcast game back in 1999! It’s about an ex-Navy SEAL fighter named Cutter Slade who ends up in an alien world. He’s tasked with recruiting the locals named the Talans and fighting off their oppressors in open-world (ish?) guerilla warfare and jetpack dogfighting. And a lot of dad jokes to ease the tension.

“The stakes are high, though, Cutter Slade brings dry humor to the forefront, adding a touch of wit to the intense storyline. Rediscover the awe-inspiring game world reminiscent of the beloved Outcast 1, while offering something totally fresh and accessible for newcomers. Every corner is brimming with wonders and surprises!”

Check out the trailer below. Outcast: A New Beginning will be out for PC and consoles on 15 March 2024.
