Three Malaysians Are Inducted Into the TGA Future Class 2023

The Game Awards is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. This year, us Malaysians have plenty to be proud proud of. 3 of our very own Malaysians have made the list of 2023 TGA Future Class! This category highlights up-and-coming talents in the game industry.

Metronomik’s very own Game Programmer Jonathan Tang, Persona Theory producer & co-founder Saqina Latiff, as well as independent journalist Samantha Low were all inducted into the 20233 TGA Future Class.

On Twitter/X, Jonathan had some words to say about the nomination:

Although I am relatively fresh in the #gamedev industry, I quickly realized the community is nothing like I’ve ever experienced before. I’m really, really humbled and never expected that one day I would have an alumni position in TGA’s future class alongside @Larxy!(Saqina Latiff).”

Saqina took to posting on her Linkedin with the following quote:

“Got the honour of not only adding an IVLP alumni to my name but also inducted into the Game Awards Future Class 2023! The email came around the time United lost my luggage in USA too so I was going through a lot of different emotions that day. Also, a huge thank you for all my friends who went out of their way to nominate me. I’m super grateful ?? IVLP and GAFC2023 BABYYY. Congrats to fellow Malaysians Samantha Low and Jonathan Tang too!!!”

Samantha Low, who has been freelancing for sites such as GamesHub, has also expressed her thoughts on being nominated:

Incredibly overwhelmed to be sharing that I’m part of @thegameawards Future Class 2023! Everything I do is in support of the Southeast Asian and Japan communities I serve. This recognition will only help me further shed light on video games from this region.”

What an amazing way for us to close out the year for Malaysians! We hope to see more of our own being inducted into future classes! You can check out the full list here, and also give praise to other Southeast Asians who made the Future Class list.
