Mickey Mouse Horror Game Announced On First Day Of Public Domain

As of 1 January 2024, the Steamboat Willie (black and white) version of Mickey Mouse is now in the public domain. Not even one day after the fact, a game developer has already announced a horror game featuring the iconic character.

Nightmare Forge Games has announced Infestation 88, an episodic 1-4 player co-op survival horror game set in 1988. You play as an exterminator called upon to rid dwellings of “twisted versions of classic characters and urban legends.”

The game will feature several “unique locations” and players will encounter “classic characters”, which include Mickey Mouse. It also features private and public lobbies, as well as proximity-based and standard voice chat. Items are randomized, and players will unlock skins, perks, and other items as they progress in Infestation 88. Plus, it also supports Nvidia DLSS.

Infestation 88 is slated to release on Steam Early Access sometime in 2024.
