New Godzilla X Kong The New Empire Trailer Teases Mysterious Enemy Titan, Shimo

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures unveiled a new trailer for the latest instalment in the Monsterverse film series, Godzilla X Kong The New Empire.

The new trailer shows more of what to expect from the upcoming movie, including more mini-Kong, more Scar King (the evil Kong-like ape who’s one of the main antagonists), and Kong getting his new Titan Gauntlet (or whatever it’s called). However, the biggest reveal of all is the trailer teasing a mysterious new reptilian Godzilla-like Titan as another antagonist, who is the Ice Titan Shimo.

The synopsis reads:

The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of “Godzilla vs. Kong” with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

Once again at the helm is director Adam Wingard. The film stars Rebecca Hall (“Godzilla vs. Kong,” The Night House”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Godzilla vs. Kong,” “Bullet Train”), Dan Stevens (“Gaslit,” “Legion,” “Beauty and the Beast”), Kaylee Hottle (“Godzilla vs. Kong”), Alex Ferns (“The Batman,” “Wrath of Man,” “Chernobyl”) and Fala Chen (“Irma Vep,” “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”).

The screenplay is by Terry Rossio (“Godzilla vs. Kong” the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series) and Simon Barrett (“You’re Next”) and Jeremy Slater (“Moon Knight”), from a story by Rossio & Wingard & Barrett, based on the character “Godzilla” owned and created by TOHO Co., Ltd.. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric Mcleod, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Brian Rogers. The executive producers are Wingard, Jen Conroy, Jay Ashenfelter, Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira.

The last MonsterVerse movie was Godzilla Vs Kong in 2021 (check out our review here), as well as the currently ongoing TV series Monarch Legacy Of Monsters on Apple TV+. The cinematic universe began with 2014’s Godzilla, 2017’s Kong Skull Island and 2019’s Godzilla King Of The Monsters.

Godzilla x Kong The New Empire premieres on 29 March 2024.
