Final Fantasy 16 DLC The Rising Tide Gameplay Details Unveiled & Dated

During PAX East 2024, Square Enix has unveiled new details about its upcoming DLC for Final Fantasy XVI, titled The Rising Tide.

In this DLC, players will finally get to see the missing summon Leviathan in action, both as a boss Clive and his team fight and as an Eikon Clive can wield with its own powers and skills. Here’s the synopsis:

“An unmarked letter arrives at the hideaway containing a request most curious: the Dominant of Leviathan, long lost Eikon of Water, is in need of rescue. To heed this call, Clive and his companions must journey to Mysidia – a hidden land under a blue sky- where they will uncover the tragic history of a forgotten people.”

Players will get to check out the new continent of Mysidia, filled with new monsters like the Tonberry family who still have their gloom and revenge abilities to go with their giant-as-hell kitchen knives. Players will also get a new ally named Shula who will help as a party member for the DLC.

In addition, players will also be able to play a new end-game mode called Kairos Gate, where you fight waves of enemies, level up and upgrade Clive using battle points you earn, and attempt to get a spot on the global leaderboards. The catch? You have to play this mode in Final Fantasy difficulty, so it’s not for the faint of heart.

The DLC will be out on 18 April 2024. Check out the gameplay in action below.

Final Fantasy XVI is out now for PlayStation 5. The PC version is slated to come out, presumably this year. On a related note, acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will be getting a Final Fantasy XVI crossover starting this April; details will be revealed later this weekend.
