Xsolla & Curine Ventures Launch Academy To Transform ASEAN Gaming

Xsolla, a prominent company in the video game commerce sector, and Curine Ventures, known for incubating profitable startups in Southeast Asia and the Americas, are thrilled to announce the opening of the Xsolla Curine Academy (XCA) in Kuala Lumpur. This initiative, supported by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), demonstrates a significant commitment to nurturing local talent in the video game industry. The grand opening is set for 18 April 2024, at KL Eco City.

The Xsolla Curine Academy aims to empower game developers by offering a comprehensive program aligned with industry needs. Spanning 1 to 12 months, the Academy provides courses covering various areas such as communication practices in gaming, indie game design, computer graphics, game strategy, and intellectual property incubation. Participants, whether aiming to launch their own game or pursue a career in gaming, will receive support tailored to their goals.

With a focus on students, XCA offers three learning tracks catering to different experience levels and aspirations. These tracks, combined with access to XCA’s Megamod engine and global expertise, ensure learners are well-equipped for success in the gaming industry.

The programs are particularly designed for those interested in game development as a business. Participants will learn practical skills like storytelling, character creation, analytics, project management, and marketing strategies unique to gaming. Integration with Xsolla Funding Club and Accelerator connects learners with a network of investors and publishers, enhancing opportunities for indie game launches.

XCA, through collaborations with industry experts and educational institutions, aims to bridge the talent-opportunity gap and stimulate growth in Malaysia’s game development scene. Situated strategically in ASEAN, the academy leverages Xsolla’s experience and Curine Ventures’ expertise to cultivate the next generation of gaming professionals.

David Stelzer, President of Xsolla, envisions XCA as a platform to democratize game development and elevate Malaysian and ASEAN talent globally. This launch marks a significant step towards Malaysia’s role as a hub for game development excellence in ASEAN, aligning with Xsolla and Curine Ventures’ shared goal of enriching the gaming ecosystem through training and collaboration.
