[Rumor] Doom: The Dark Ages Is The Next Id Software Shooter

The new Id Software and Bethesda have seen success with the 2016 DOOM reboot and its follow-up DOOM Eternal. So it’s no surprise we are going to see another sequel to the fast-paced first-person shooter.

According to a Windows Central report, the next Doom is called DOOM: The Dark Ages and will be out for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation. The game will be medieval-themed while retaining its boomer shooter core gameplay, alluding to the fact that it’s a prequel. According to DOOM game director Hugo Martin, the team plans to slow DOOM down a bit, making your character a hulking monster truck rather than a deadly race car. Players may control one of the Night Sentinels, a knight-like group who used to work with the DOOM Slayer to deal with the forces of Hell in the 2016 DOOM lore.

The game’s reveal will be on 9 June 2024 PST, during the Xbox Games Showcase slated in a few weeks time. We expect the game to also have a release date/window announced at that time.
