Ubisoft Cancels Development Of The Division Heartland
Ubisoft has officially cancelled The Division Heartland, as confirmed during its quarterly earnings call on Wednesday, 15 May.
The free-to-play multiplayer survival-action shooter was being developed by Red Storm Entertainment and was set in the fictional rural town of Silver Creek, which had been ravaged by the Dollar Flu.
Chief Financial Officer Frédérick Duguet explained;
“In line with the increased selectivity of our investment, we have decided to stop development on The Division Heartland and are redeploying our resources to bigger opportunities like XDefiant and Rainbow Six Siege,”
Duguet described the decision as “difficult but necessary and important.”

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot further clarified that the cancellation aligns with the company’s strategic shift towards focusing on open-world adventures and games-as-a-service titles.
This news comes following the unveiling of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is slated for later this year on 15 November.
The game will feature two playable characters and be available on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, Amazon Luna, Mac, and PC through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store.
