One Of 2024’s Best Role-Playing Games Is Getting Official Mod Support Later This Year
Larian Studios has announced that it plans to offer official support for its hit computer RPG of last year, Baldur’s Gate 3.
As part of the game’s major update on September 2024, this mod support will also be rolled out in two test phases. One is a closed alpha that is starting today where Larian Studios will be working with a small team of mod authors from the community to further developer mod tools for the official version. The second phase will be a closed beta on July which players can register for, but will be limited to a cap of 1,000 players.
Mod support will be first released for the PC version of the game, since that’s the core audience for these sort of things are. Official statement from Larian Studios is below:
“We expect to roll out the support to the wider community and various platforms shortly after – including for Mac players, as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles.”
As for the September update? It’ll come with “improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs” which should be a hoot for Dark Urge players and those who want to keep being evil with mommies characters like Minthara. The update also adds in fixes, quality of life improvements, and more.
