Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is Coming to GSC Malaysia

The anticipated animated film Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will premiere in Malaysia at GSC cinemas later this year, as announced on their official Facebook page. The movie was given a spotlight during a 20-minute showcase at the Annecy Animation Festival, where audiences were introduced to Princess Héra of Rohan.

The narrative unfolds almost two centuries before Bilbo Baggins encounters the infamous ring, focusing on the lineage of Helm Hammerhand, the sovereign of Rohan. Particular attention is given to his daughter, the fiercely independent Princess Héra. Miranda Otto, known for her role as Éowyn in Peter Jackson’s LOTR adaptations, lends her voice as the narrator of this tale.

Director Kenji Kamiyama, renowned for his contributions to Blade Runner: Black Lotus, several Ghost in the Shell adaptations, and Akira, is helming the project. Sola Entertainment celebrated for its work on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, produces the animation. Fans globally are eagerly awaiting the international release of Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.

While GSC’s official Facebook page did not confirm the exact premiere date, the cinema’s website reveals that the film is scheduled to debut on 12 December 2024.
