Solo Dev Fruit Ninja & Jetpack Joyride Announces New Deep Sea Roguelike Game

Luke Muscat, the creator behind popular games like Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride has a new game in the works that features an atmospheric deep-sea adventure with Lovecraftian vibes, titled Feed the Deep.

Players will assume the role of a diver embarking on a journey to explore procedurally generated underwater caves, braving the depths to gather loot while evading dangerous sea creatures. As you progress, you will acquire new equipment to enhance your treasure-hunting capabilities and fend off menacing creatures. The gameplay trailer reveals an engaging mechanic where players utilize lines to capture vibrant objects, all the while navigating through perilous coral obstacles. Furthermore, the game offers a unique feature that allows players to participate in a retro shooter game while mid-dive.

Drawing inspiration from games such as Spelunky and Dome Keeper, Feed the Deep presents a gripping challenge of preventing a monstrous entity reminiscent of Cthulhu from wreaking havoc on floating cities above. The game’s soundtrack will be crafted by the acclaimed composer Cedar Jones (known for works on Jetpack Joyride, Fruit Ninja, and more).

Luke Muscat has been sharing an inside look into the game’s development through his YouTube channel, granting fans transparency into the indie game creation process. Early feedback from demos has been overwhelmingly positive, with players expressing excitement and anticipation for the full release.

Feed the Deep is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam in the third quarter of 2024. Be sure to watch the announcement trailer for a glimpse into this intriguing new game.
