Stop-Motion Studio LAIKA Unveils Teaser For Its First Movie In Half A Decade, Wildwood

Stop-motion studio LAIKA has unveiled the first teaser for their upcoming stop-motion animated movie, Wildwood.

Wildwood will be their first film since 2019’s Missing Link. LAIKA is perhaps best known for making iconic stop-motion animated movies such as 2009’s Coraline and 2012’s Paranorman. While LAIKA is best known for more horror-oriented content, their more recent movies have been fantasy-themed like Wildwood, such as 2016’s Kubo And The Two Strings and most recently, 2019’s Missing Link.

According to the official website, Wildwood is based on the bestselling novel written by Colin Meloy, lead singer and songwriter for The Decemberists, and illustrated by Carson Ellis. It is a tale of love, loss, sacrifice and secrets, and of the magic you can find on your doorstep if you’re willing to look for it.

It stars an ensemble cast featuring the voice talents of Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits, and Richard E. Grant.

Wildwood is slated to premiere sometime in 2025.
