Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign Promises Blockbuster Thrills & Global Adventures

Activision has dropped exciting new information about the campaign mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. In a recent blog, they revisited the Black Ops storyline, summarizing key moments and characters from the series, spanning the early 1960s to the late 1980s. The latest entry in the franchise, however, takes us to 1991, set against the backdrop of the Gulf War.

A new “Campaign Intel Drop” video, released by developer Raven Software, gives a sneak peek into the single-player story. Lead narrative designer Murray Kraft described the campaign as a summer blockbuster, crafted to be accessible to both long-time fans and newcomers. As expected from a Call of Duty title, players will travel across the globe, visiting locations such as Kuwait, Iraq, Washington DC, and the Soviet Union.

Kraft also emphasized the freedom the game offers: “The variety of gameplay is pretty spectacular, with a lot of space to explore and multiple ways to approach each situation.” This flexibility means that each player’s experience will be unique, as senior environment artist Tyler Anlauf noted: “Your friend may have played it differently and got a completely different outcome.”

One of the highlights of the campaign is the Safehouse, a customizable base of operations where players can upgrade their operator and unlock new abilities. Scattered cash throughout the campaign can be spent on improving the Safehouse, which also unlocks rewards for multiplayer and Zombies modes, including weapon skins, blueprints, and finishing moves.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to release on 25 October for Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. Excitingly, it will be the first game in the series to launch on Game Pass from day one.
